      The Centre of Arabic Documentation serves as a clearinghouse and a bank for Arabic documents, originating from or relevant to the West African region. These documents, including those written in African languages but appearing in the Arabic script, are constantly consulted by scholars. Most are in manuscript form, some original, some photocopies, while a quite large number are on microfilm. The Arabic collection covers a wide range of disciplines, such as African history, culture, literature, religious studies and government (mainly West Africa in precolonial times).
