      The holdings of the Cape Town Records Centre consist of records younger than 20 years and therefore do not qualify for immediate transfer to an archives repository. The facility is thus for the temporary storage of records created within governmental bodies such as the Provincial Administration Western Cape and local authorities which are unable to accommodate records eventually destined to be transferred after 20 years to the Cape Town Archives Repository. A supply service is offered to client offices who may recall records on loan for 60 day periods.
