The National Archives is the storehouse of the nation's documented history. The material contained here falls into two categories: unpublished material which consists of public archives, local government and statutory body archives, historical manuscripts, oral history material; and published material largely found in the National Reference Library. The material dates as far back as the 1880's to the present. There are Provincial Records Centres in Bulawayo, Gweru, Masvingo and Mutare which house semi-current records. We also have microfilm and some English translations of original portugese documents on Mozambique and Central Africa from the 16th Century AD
